WTIA Event Tonight!
on June 18th, 2008I’ll be moderating a panel tonight entitled Profits & Privacy: At What Cost? for the Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) . We’ll be discussing the ill-defined business and regulatory trade-offs that companies face every day as they deliver services to an online audience. We have some great speakers:
- Charlene Brownlee, Davis Wright Tremaine
- Chris Hoofnagle, Associate Director, Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic and Senior Fellow, University of California-Berkeley Center for Law & Technology
- Ken McGraw, Chief Compliance Officer, Zango
- Basem Nayfeh, Chief Technology Officer, Revenue Science
- Stephen Toulouse,Lead Program Manager for Policy and Enforcement with Xbox LIVE
Should be a fun event!

Hi Jim,
You did a great job last night at the WTIA dinner. I remember once you and I sat on a similar panel years and years ago (could it be 8, 10, 12 years?!)
I was the COO at Safemessage and you were with Votehere. Both of which were awesome concepts. Don’t know about Votehere, but Safemessage was a wee bit ahead of the curve. I’m happy to report the technology and patents are still thriving in its original intended market–the Swiss Banks.
The panel discussion last night was eerily similar to that one long past. Amazing how the issues of privacy, security and open access have changed little. The diversity in the way we spread our data has certainly grown!
Thanks again, nice to see you again if even from afar (or right in front of you where our table was located:-)
Fondly,
linda
